Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, an offbeat young woman makes an unusual decision regarding her unborn child.

Master filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola’s first feature in a decade is a poignant love story, political thriller and lively philosophical quest, filled with stunning images. Tim Roth plays an aging professor of linguistics who finds his youth miraculously restored after surviving a cataclysmic event. Pursued by Nazi scientists he goes on the run, reunites with his lost love (Alexandra Maria Lara), and struggles to complete his lifework of research. The screenplay, which Coppola adapted from a novella by Mircea Eliade, deals with perception and consciousness, time and memory. Says the director: “[It’s] the kind of movie I like to make: one that gives more as people give more of themselves to it.”

The new movie from director Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love), There Will Be Blood is a story about family, greed, religion, and oil, centered around a turn-of-the-century Texas prospector (Daniel Day-Lewis) in the early days of the business.

Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable and manmade. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City, and maybe the world. But he is not alone. Hotshot Las Vegas gambler Jake Green is rarely allowed to play in the casinos because he’s a winner. Jake has taken in so much money, in fact, that he’s the only client of his accountant and older brother, Billy. Jake, Billy and their other brother Joe are invited to sit in on a private game. Crime boss and casino ownebr Dorothy Macha is sitting in on the game, too. Though he’s a terrible player he always wins because people are scared to lose to him. Jake not only beats Dorothy but insults the man. Macha puts out a hit on Jake, but Jake ends up working for and being protected by a pair of brothers, Avi and Zack, who are out to take Dorothy down.

Southland Tales is an ensemble piece set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Boxer Santaros(Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is an action star who’s stricken with amnesia. His life intertwines with Krysta Now(Sarah Michelle Gellar), an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and Ronald Taverner(Seann William Scott), a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy.

Two determined students at a West Coast University, Arian (Derek Luke) and Ernest (Michael Pena), follow the inspiration of their idealistic professor, Dr. Malley (Robert Redford), and attempt to do something important with their lives. But when the two make the bold decision to join the battle in Afghanistan, Malley is both moved and distraught. As Arian and Ernest fight for survival in the field, they become the string that binds together two disparate stories on opposite sides of America. In California, Dr. Malley attempts to reach a privileged but disaffected student (Andrew Garfield) who is the very opposite of Arian and Ernest. In Washington D.C., presidential hopeful Senator Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise) is about to give a bombshell story to a probing TV journalist (Meryl Streep) that may affect Arian and ErnestÂ’s fates. The three stories are woven tightly together, revealing how each of these Americans has a profound impact on each other and the world.
