The ever-prolific Joe Swanberg (Hannah Takes the Stairs) delivers this seductive romantic comedy, a departure from his previous work. Kate (Olivia Wilde, Tron: Legacy) and Luke (Jake Johnson, Safety Not Guaranteed) are co-workers at a Chicago brewery, where they spend their days drinking and flirting. They’re perfect for each other, except that they’re both in relationships with other people. Jake and his schoolteacher girlfriend Jill (Anna Kendrick, Oscar nominee for Up in the Air) are entering the “Should we get married?” phase of their relationship, while Kate keeps it casual with her older, music producer boyfriend Chris (Ron Livingston, Office Space). An attempt to become “couple friends” further complicates the situation; a few weeks later, Kate and Luke suddenly find themselves alone together for a weekend. The beer starts flowing, and suddenly the line between “friends” and “more than friends” begins to blur in quite unexpected ways.
